Our Story

Sissy Reese is the Community Service Coordinator for Building Bridges Ministries.

Sissy’s story begins with her love for feeding those who need a meal. Her next step was to pray for someone to partner with.

“One day at work, I was at a coworkers desk and saw this coffee mug. It caught my attention because we were getting ready to hand out the same type of coffee mug at my work.”

She discovered that the mug was from Eleos Coffee House in Kansas City so she contacted them. They told her they had some groups set up in the back parking lot to provide meals to the members of the neighborhood.

“I left the coffee house, on my way to the ladies group, excited about this opportunity since I love to feed people.”

With only $3 in the ministry account, they committed to providing meals alongside this ministry.

Sissy also volunteers with Serve KC and St. Paul's KCK feeding the food insecure for NourishKC.

“When I shared with the President of NourishKC, what we were doing at Eleos Coffee House, he said they would provide our food. I was so overwhelmed with emotion and God's goodness.”

God used Sissy to connect more ministries together like Sherwood Bible Church and Eleos Coffee And City Union Mission and others to provide necessities like tables and popcorn makers and Bible. etc. for those in need.
